Our History

Community Health of East Tennessee, Inc. is a grassroots not-for-profit in East Tennessee. Community Health of East Tennessee, Inc. is located in Campbell County Tennessee in the Cumberland Mountain range of the Appalachian Mountains.

Community Health of East Tennessee, Inc. began as a Black Lung program in 1980. Community Health of East Tennessee, Inc. has grown to be a service agency providing a wide variety of social and health services in Campbell and surrounding counties.

Community Health of East Tennessee, Inc. organization is growing into the future as a coordinated community leader providing services in each of the departments with unity. Community Health of East Tennessee, Inc. vision is to broaden and expand existing services and seek funding in new endeavors that compliment and expand Community Health of East Tennessee, Inc. services in the community and surrounding counties.

Community Health of East Tennessee, Inc. is a multi-disciplinary community based social service and health provider for Campbell County Tennessee and the surrounding areas: Developmentally Disabled Adults; Permanent Supported Housing; Transitional Housing; Domestic Violence Shelter; Child Abuse Prevention Services; Parent Education and Divorcing Parent’s Classes; Abstinence Education; Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library; Low income housing; Community Health Center with full primary care services; Black Lung program; Mediation Services; and Batters Intervention.

Community Health of East Tennessee, Inc. Board is composed of community volunteers representing a broad spectrum of the customers we serve. Community Health of East Tennessee, Inc. receives funding in part from public and private grants including, but not exclusive: Campbell County Commission, Fund for Campbell County, LaFollette Medical Foundation, East TN Foundation, United Way of Anderson County for Campbell County, TN Department of Children’s Services, TN Department of Health, Department of Health and Human Services, and the TN Office of Criminal Justice Program. Community Health of East Tennessee, Inc. Community Health Center is a Federally Qualified 330 Site and a Black Lung Grant Clinic. Target, Radio Shack, Wal-Mart, The National Children’s Alliance, and The Governor’s Books from Birth Foundation are additional grant sources. Generous donations from the community and individuals and fundraisers by Community Health of East Tennessee, Inc. provide the grant match funds.

Each Community Health of East Tennessee, Inc. Service has a volunteer community advisory council that meets regularly to review the programs and give input into events and services the department offers. Each advisory council has a vested interest for the services and quality of services offered. Each advisory council has given invaluable guidance and support to Community Health of East Tennessee, Inc. staff. Each has proven to be our cheerleaders and support for fundraisers within our communities.

Community Health of East Tennessee, Inc. was organized as "REACHS, Inc." from 1980 to 2008.
